Let’s talk about a few of the rules that control the search engines. In particular, here are 3 rules posted on Google’s website you should always follow to avoid having your business pushed down or taken off search completely: 1. Stuffing web pages with keywords, or hiding keywords and elements on a page to “trick” Google about what’s actually on it
.2. Buying links and using other illegitimate tactics to deceive Google. 3. Creating multiple copies of a page, otherwise known as duplicate copy.
Now, these rules are constantly changing to prevent spammers and scammers from exploiting search engines for their own personal gain.
But, what can an honest, hard-working business do to use these search engines for their own advantage? And, how can they stay at the top of search results when the rules and algorithms that control aren’t written in clear writing and change without any notice?
Well, as a business owner, especially one that intends to use the internet to attract customers, it’s very important to understand which changes are being made and how it can have an impact on your business.
So, let’s talk about an update Google made to their platform which is known as the Google 3-Pack.
Here's the story about ChimTech (one of our clients). They’re a small local business in Maine offering chimney related services for their community.
